WHAT TO EXPECT?
We dive into Arctic forest and ski through some beautiful locations to experience and photograph the Northern Lights and surrounding nature in night time. The forest presents a whole different side of natural beauty in the dark of the night. The calm and silence of the night offer you a chance to hear the nocturnal sounds of the Lappish wilderness. We use specialist skis that can take us through the deep snow and untouched terrain of Lapland. Using only headlamps, we get enough light to manoeuvre through the forest and to reach the spots in the middle of the nocturnal nature, while not causing light pollution.
The adventure starts from our office where we equip the team with proper
gear and clothing. Then we will drive to our location in the forest and
get ready to enter the woods. Once we leave the minivan, we make an
equipment check and set all the cameras to be ready for night
photography. Northern Lights are unpredictable, so we need to be ready
to get the cameras out and ready fast!
ARE THE NORTHER LIGHTS GUARANTEED?
Northern Lights are always unpredictable and there is no guarantee
that they will appear during the tour. Because of this, our main focus
is in skiing and experiencing the wonders of Arctic nature at night.
What sets this tour apart from our highly popular Northern Lights
hunting tour are the locations, which are reachable only with
backcountry skis, thus taking our nocturnal nature photography to a
whole new level.
Begin at the office, where the guide supplies the group with suitable clothing, skis, poles and headlamps, then travel by minivan to the forest.
After an equipment and camera check, ski through the nighttime forest using headlamps. The guide helps the group prepare for night photography, but the route and experience do not depend on an aurora sighting.
Northern Lights are unpredictable and are not guaranteed. The main focus is backcountry skiing and experiencing Arctic nature at night.
