When to come

The colour turns from north to south. Around Rovaniemi the peak usually lands between 10 and 25 September, and it holds for roughly ten days before the first storms take the leaves down. Aurora season overlaps with it: the nights are already dark enough by early September.

What to bring

Bring a thermos, waterproof boots and a headlamp for the walk back — dusk arrives around six and the forest tracks go dark fast. Layers matter more than a heavy coat: the days can reach ten degrees and the nights drop close to zero.

Most of our autumn departures are small groups, and several run in English only. If you are unsure whether a tour suits your fitness or your children, ask us before booking — we would rather move you to a better fit than have you on the wrong tour.
