Arrive at the Polar Explorer terminal in Kalix, Sweden, for a cruise on the frozen Bothnian Sea. The programme includes an audio-guided ship tour, an icebreaker film, a stop on the frozen sea and optional floating in a survival suit.

What to expect?

During 3 hours you will be a witness to the massive ice breaking power of the vessel, joina guided tour all the way down to the engine rooms, and all way up to Captain’s bridge. The tour is available in 16 languages via audio guide application and includes an 11 min movie in the icebreaker cinema about icebreakers all over the world.

You can relax in the cozy saloon enjoying warm juice, or go for walk on the frozen sea ice during the stop. The icebreaker makes a pool free of ice and every visitor can take a swim in the dark icy water wearing a flotation survival suit. The captain will present a Cruise & Swim Certificate to everyone as a memorable gift.

You must arrange your own transportation to the cruise terminal. Free parking is available at the terminal. Cruise departures are at 09:00 or 13:00 in Swedish time, which is one hour behind Finnish time.

Children may join ice floating with a parent only if they are at least 125 cm tall; smaller survival suits are not available. Swimming may be cancelled in bad weather, and the activity provider may modify or cancel parts of the programme for safety reasons.
