During the day, our photography guide will lead you into the national park for a short walk. The total walking distance during the day is around 2-3 km, and the trail we explore includes many of our favorite photography locations, where we can best capture the rare beauty of Oulanka National Park. We will visit the famous whirlpool of Myllykoski rapids, stop to admire the view from a hanging bridge, and hike deeper into the quiet calm of the forest.
Before leaving the national park, we will take a break at a cozy cabin by the river and prepare a light lunch, enjoy the heat of the campfire and swap stories before continuing our journey back to Rovaniemi.
No matter what time of the year you visit, Oulanka national park is an amazing destination for nature lovers, photographers and hikers. In the winter, the landscape is covered in a blanket of snow and ice. The fast-flowing waters of the river roaring will not freeze even during coldest winter days, creating a magical mist. In the summer, there is an explosion of life, color and light. In the autumn, the green leaves turn into a sea of orange, red, and yellow, creating an almost surreal mosaic of contrasting colors.
The park is also home to an astonishing variety of wildlife and plants. Don’t forget to bring your camera and binoculars - you may spot a golden eagle, a white-throated dipper or the siberian jay or "kuukkeli". Our guide will share with you information and stories from Finnish nature, culture and outdoor lifestyle, to make sure you get the most out of your northern adventure.
