In practice, many “guaranteed” operators cancel their tours when the forecast looks poor. Cloudy weather? Low aurora activity? Tour cancelled. That means visitors who came all the way to Rovaniemi for this once-in-a-lifetime experience may not even get the chance to try. Just this past week at the end of October 2025, the weather forecasts in Rovaniemi looked cloudy and rainy and less than optimal for seeing the Northern Lights. Many had their guaranteed tour cancelled and were forced to miss out on seeing the Northern Lights during their stay in Rovaniemi.
