Juhani
Juhani is a local to Rovaniemi. He has been with us since 2019. He’s a master Aurora hunter who brings an expertise in weather forecasting and a wealth of knowledge in solar activity. He’s a great team player and his easygoing optimism bleeds into his tours. Some nights he’s the tip of the spear, leading all of our guides and tours to clear skies.
Unsurprisingly, his favorite work activity is Aurora chasing.
He loves to spend time in nature, harvesting cloudberries, fishing for graylings, watching sunsets and ice swimming.
In winter his favorite place is Aavasaksa, which is an impressive hill with snowy trees close to Sweden. In summer, his favorite place is the great rapids by the Meltausjoki river, called Unarinköngäs. “There is something about the free rivers that flow through the wild lands. Combine that with stunning colors from the midnight sun and it's a paradise!”
“I believe spending time in nature has a strong correlation with having a meaningful life, therefore being a guide is an excellent choice. Being a guide means that one can spend lots of time in nature, doing awesome things with awesome people.”
